Piero Macgowan was born in 1983 in Valle de Bravo, a town
2 hours away from Mexico City, where
he grew up and lived his childhood and youth.
Ever since he was a small kid, Piero had artistic aspirations. His earliest art pieces didn’t even use any instrument but his bare hands; they were llong lines of cars and trucks drawn on the beach sand when he went on vacation. He always had a passion for sketching and drawing, and he has found incredible support from his mother, who has kept every single monster, character, and cartoon in a huge compilation. As he grew up he got interested in Comics, where he would draw away and tell the imaginary adventures of his invented characters.
During elementary school, Piero was always in close contact with art, whether in the classes at school or accompanied by his best friends, who also loved to draw. During middle and high school, Piero continued his artistic expression in similar ways, getting involved as illustrator and draughtsman in the school’s newspaper and magazines. However, it was not until the last year of high school when he got seriously interested in Illustration, and art, as a career.

During this time, after graduation, he also had the opportunity to work at an animation and design studio full time, which gave him a good perspective on the professional world before going into his college education. At the end of the summer in 2003, Piero moved to Baltimore to study Illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he graduated with a B.F.A. in Illustration in 2007.
During the last four years, Piero has benefited from a great education, which has provided him with the tools necessary to compete at a high level in the professional world. He has taken a very strong interest in concept art, and has been fortunate enough to have already had the position of lead concept artist as well as illustrator and designer for the music video industry. Although he has a strong traditional artistic background, he is mostly interested in the potential of digitally created art and its possibilities, due to the ever-changing and improving nature of digital tools.
He feels ready for any project that might come, and aspires to become an art director for the film and animation industry.
